What Is Fitrana?
Fitrana (Zakat al-Fitr) is a mandatory charity that every Muslim must give before Eid-ul-Fitr. It purifies the fasts of Ramadan and helps ensure that the poor and needy can celebrate Eid with dignity and joy. By giving Fitrana, you fulfill an important religious obligation and share the blessings of Eid with those less fortunate.
Fitrana is a powerful act of compassion and social responsibility in Islam. It ensures that basic food needs are met for vulnerable families and promotes care, unity, and balance within the community. Through your Fitrana, Akbar Suffa Welfare Society works to deliver timely, transparent, and Shariah-compliant assistance to deserving individuals.

Fitrana in the Light of the Qur’an
Fitrana (Zakat al-Fitr) is rooted in the Qur’anic command to purify oneself through charity and to care for the poor and needy. Allah instructs believers to give from what He has provided so that wealth may circulate fairly within society and the vulnerable are not neglected. Fitrana reflects this divine guidance by ensuring that every member of the community can meet their basic needs at the time of Eid.
“And establish prayer and give charity, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves—you will find it with Allah.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:110)
Fitrana in the Light of Hadith
Fitrana (Zakat al-Fitr) was made obligatory by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as a means of purifying the fasts of Ramadan from any shortcomings and idle talk. It is also a way to provide food and relief to the poor and needy so that they may celebrate Eid with dignity and happiness.
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made Zakat al-Fitr obligatory as purification for the fasting person from idle talk and obscenity, and as food for the poor.”
📖 Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith 1609
📖 Ibn Majah, Hadith 1827
Who should pay Fitrana?

It is due for all members of a household, including children and dependents, and should be paid by the head of the family on behalf of everyone.
